Annual & Class Fees Due Wednesday, October 4

All annual fees and class fees (first semester & full year classes) are due on Wednesday, October 4. Balances after the due date will be charged a late fee (up to $15). Second semester class fees will be charged in February.

Some of you have already paid your student’s annual fees (Student Fee, Winterim & Graduation)–thank you! Now that schedules have settled down, we have also charged class fees. (Not all classes have associated fees, but some do.) You can see our fee schedule here: 23-24 Fee Schedule

If you would like to set up a payment plan for annual fees and class fees (except AP exams), please email finance@maeserprep.org before Wednesday, October 4. PLEASE NOTE: We do not set up payment plans for extracurricular sports and activities–these fees must be paid before your student can participate.

If you think you may qualify for a fee waiver, please email finance@maeserprep.org for an application before Wednesday, October 4.

If you have any questions, please email finance@maeserprep.org. We are happy to help!

Volunteer Opportunities

Maeser Fundraising: Help Needed!

Hello Maeser Parents! Please help us out by taking a few minutes to fill out this Google form: Fundraising Committee Superstars & Supporting Maeser Community Businesses. We’re wondering if you’d like to get involved in fundraising efforts, and if you can help us gather a list of Maeser-alum run/owned businesses, and businesses we can partner with in various capacities. Thank you!

Mock Trial Attorney Coaches

Our High School and Middle School Mock Trial Teams are looking for Attorney Coaches! If you are looking for a way to support Maeser and are an attorney here in Utah, we would welcome your involvement in our Mock Trial program. We rely on our Attorney Coaches to help teach the finer points of the law, court procedure and student roles (attorney, witness, bailiff). We meet weekly on Fridays. Our state competition begins in February, 2024. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Mr. Geary at: douglas.geary@maeserprep.org.

Protein Powder for Weights Classes

In an effort to provide our students with a more complete weight training program, we would like to offer them Whey Protein drinks after each workout. This is, of course, just an option for the students in the weights classes.

For more details and to sign up to help, please visit our Sign-Up Genius: Protein Powder for Weights Classes. Thank you very much!

Lunch Volunteers Needed!

Do you need to get your volunteer hours? We need help selling and serving lunch every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:15-12:00pm. To sign up to help please email Jared Norris at jared.norris@maeserprep.org

Report Your Volunteer Hours

DON’T FORGET! Report your volunteer hours once you’ve dropped off your donation: Report Parent Service Hours. Each $5 spent for donations counts as one hour of volunteer service!

Sports Announcements

Swim Team Starts September 11

Is your high school student interested in being part of Maeser’s Swim Team? Let’s get this season started! Swim Team practices will be Monday-Friday from 4-5:30 at the Orem Fitness Center pool starting on Monday, September 11.

Parents are strongly encouraged to join us on the first day of practice at the Orem Fitness Center pool deck bleachers for an intro to Swim Team. Please go to the south parking lot of the Fitness Center and enter the pool deck directly from there. Coach Becky will be there to answer any questions you have about Swim Team.

Email Coach Becky with any questions you may have or ask them at the first day: becky.brough@maeserprep.org.

Fall 23-24 Sports Academic Eligibility

Eligibility for participation in fall sports/activities will be determined by 4th term grades. All students (middle and high school) must have earned a 2.7 GPA with no Fs. In addition, high school students cannot have any Fs/NGs/Incompletes from previous high school terms. All Fs/NGs must be made up by the last day of term.

Sports Physicals

All students, middle school and high school, who will be playing sports this year (2023-24) need a physical in order to play. Physicals completed on or after March 10, 2023 are good until July 15, 2024. Any physicals completed before March 10 of this year will not be accepted (per UHSAA policy) for the upcoming school year.

Here is a link to the UHSAA form which Maeser uses for ALL athletes: UHSAA Physical Form

Amount: 4-5 bags/month

Fixed vs Growth Mindset

This week’s tip comes from an e-mail from Dr. Maggie Wray, Creating Positive Futures.

Did you know your student’s mindset is one of the biggest predictors of their success in school?

Students with a growth mindset are significantly more curious, resilient, open to constructive criticism, and focused on improving themselves, rather than proving their worth. All of which can have a hugely positive effect on both their performance and happiness at school (and in life).

While every student can benefit from adopting more of a growth mindset, this concept will be especially valuable to focus on if you see your student avoiding hard things, resisting feedback from parents or teachers, or talking about how they’re “bad” at a particular subject.

As parents, there are a number of ways you can help your kids adopt a growth mindset! Check out the full blog post at Creating Positive Futures for more resources to help point you in the right direction.

Can We Reach You In Case Of Emergency?

It’s important to keep your contact information up to date and opt-in to receive text messages from Maeser — in case of an emergency, this is how we notify parents! In addition, we use your contact information to notify you about important school events and school fees deadlines.

Here’s how to make sure you’re getting all of our important announcements and information:

Opt In For School Text Messages

Our school utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts, student fees, and more. We will only use text messaging for urgent and important information.

You can participate in this service by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587.

You can also opt out of text messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”.

Update Your Contact Information

If any of your contact information has changed – email address, mailing address, phone number – please let us know asap so we can be sure you’re getting school and teacher communications.

Thank you for helping us keep in contact with your family!
