Changes to Advisory Friday for 2023-24

Advisory Fridays have a new look this year!

Please take a moment to read through the new format with your student before school starts. You can access the full details here: Advisory Fridays Community Communication (2023-24)

2023-24 Class Schedules

PowerSchool is currently offline to allow us to perform summer updates and maintenance, and to finish creating student schedules for 2023-24.

The parent and student portals will reopen on Monday, August 7 with 2023-24 class schedules. Schedule change information will be given at that time.

If your student is new to Maeser this year, you will receive an email this weekend with your parent login information for PowerSchool.

For your convenience, we have compiled an Amazon shopping list with all of the required items for your middle school student. For details and the link to the shopping list, click here: Middle School Supply List.

Have Your 2023-24 Plans Changed?

If your plans for 2023-24 enrollment have changed and your student will not be attending Maeser Prep, please contact us ASAP to let us know by emailing us at registrar@maeserprep.org — please include your student’s name, their 2023-24 grade, and the school they will be attending next year. We are sending out record requests for our new students and want to help you avoid having your student’s school file sent to the wrong school. We are also creating schedules for next year and want to make sure students can get into the classes they’ve requested.

Thanks so much for your help in keeping our records up to date!

HS & MS Ultimate Disk

All students of all grades are invited to join Maeser’s Ultimate Disk program. Ultimate is a super fun co-ed sport that continues to grow year over year and Maeser’s program is going into its tenth year. Practices for fall season start at the end of August and will go to early November. The season includes weekly games and one or two tournaments. For more information, e-mail ultimate.frisbee@maeserprep.org.

Fall 23-24 Sports Academic Eligibility

Eligibility for participation in fall sports/activities will be determined by 4th term grades. All students (middle and high school) must have earned a 2.7 GPA with no Fs. In addition, high school students cannot have any Fs/NGs/Incompletes from previous high school terms. All Fs/NGs must be made up by the last day of term.

Sports Physicals

All students, middle school and high school, who will be playing sports this year (2023-24) need a physical in order to play. Physicals completed on or after March 10, 2023 are good until July 15, 2024. Any physicals completed before March 10 of this year will not be accepted (per UHSAA policy) for the upcoming school year.

Here is a link to the UHSAA form which Maeser uses for ALL athletes: UHSAA Physical Form

Counseling Announcements

Senior Meetings

If your student is a senior and is taking classes from MTEC or planning on completing an internship, please make an appointment with Kathryn Chapman. Slots are available for the first two weeks of August. You can schedule by going to https://www.maesercounseling.com/counselor-info-appt and clicking on the “make an appointment with Kathryn” button. Be on time and help our meeting to remain focused on the task at hand. We only have 20 minutes for each senior.

Class Change Requests

This year it is very important to use the class change request form to ask for a change in the student’s schedule. Do NOT email us and ask us for changes. We will not accept ANY class change requests by email. You can email your student’s counselor with questions or issues, but you MUST fill out a class change request form to change a schedule.

We will send the link to students and parents on Monday, August 7th. This is also the day that schedules are available in PowerSchool.

There will be no class change request form for Middle School as all student schedules are done with the new curriculum. The only changes made to middle school schedules will be to make sure students are in the correct math or Latin classes. If your student is in the wrong math or Latin class, you may e-mail Ms. Sorenson. Please send only one (1) email and she will fix the schedule as soon as she can. Please be patient with the process.

Summer School Credit Ahead

Summer school credit ahead grades have been reported and will be recorded in PowerSchool and appear on transcripts by the end of the first two weeks of school.

Can We Reach You In Case Of Emergency?

It’s important to keep your contact information up to date and opt-in to receive text messages from Maeser — in case of an emergency, this is how we notify parents! In addition, we use your contact information to notify you about important school events and school fees deadlines.

Here’s how to make sure you’re getting all of our important announcements and information:

Opt In For School Text Messages

Our school utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts, student fees, and more. We will only use text messaging for urgent and important information.

You can participate in this service by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587.

You can also opt out of text messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”.

Update Your Contact Information

If any of your contact information has changed – email address, mailing address, phone number – please let us know asap so we can be sure you’re getting school and teacher communications.

Thank you for helping us keep in contact with your family!
