Important Information About Class Schedules
NEW System for Making Schedule Changes
Over the years, we’ve received lots of feedback from you about the process of making schedule changes at the beginning of the year. Accordingly, in order to protect your time and our counselors’ time, we are implementing important changes in how schedule changes are handled. From now on, students and parents won’t have to wait in line to make changes, but will submit a “Class Change Request Form”. Counselors will not be meeting with students and parents to make schedule changes.
Here is the process:
- Fill out the Class Change Request Form and have it signed by a guardian.
- Pay the $10 non-refundable processing fee, either at the front desk or online. (Students get ONE free class change form.)
- Attach your receipt to this form. If this is your first (free) change, then you will receive a stamp from the front office.
- Submit the form to the front office.
- Counselors will process your request form and email you whether they were able to make the requested changes or not.
There are many factors that determine if a schedule change is possible, such as class size, individual schedule restrictions, classes that are only taught one period, and specialty classes. Submitting a Class Change Request Form does not guarantee that your requests can be accommodated, but we’ll try our best. Students are allowed one free class change form, and every additional form will require a $10 fee.
We realize this is a substantial change from how we’ve handled schedule changes in the past, but we’ve heard your concerns and feedback, and anticipate that this adjustment will work well.
School Counselors
Ms. Sorenson (sandra.sorenson@maeserprep.org) now works with all 7th-9th grade students.
Mrs. Anderson (krystal.anderson@maeserprep.org) now works with all 10th-12th grade students.
Accessing Your Student’s Class Schedule in PowerSchool
Student schedules are now available in PowerSchool. We’ve added some new resources including Grade History and Graduation Progress to the desktop version to help you as you plan for any schedule changes.
If your family is NEW to Maeser this year, you should have received an email with your login information for PowerSchool. If you have other students who attended Maeser last year, any new siblings will be added to your existing parent account.
Lost Your PowerSchool Password?
You can reset your password by clicking on the “Forgot Your Password?” link on the PowerSchool login page and providing the email address associated with your PowerSchool account. It can sometimes take up to 15 minutes for your reset email to arrive (you may also want to check your Spam or Junk Mail folder in case it’s misdirected).
Important Deadline for Students Taking Concurrent Enrollment Classes
Students planning on taking a Concurrent Enrollment class during the 2019/20 school year (next year) should begin the enrollment and registration process with UVU now! Students who are not admitted to UVU and registered for their CE class through UVU by the Maeser add/drop deadline (Friday, August 30) will be removed from the class.
Go to www.uvu.edu/concurrent and follow the steps to start the admission process ASAP!

LAST CHANCE NG Make-up Opportunity
Are you a high school student planning to participate in sports OR activities this fall? The minimum eligibility requirement is a 2.7 GPA with no Fs/NGs for Quarter 4 *and* no Fs/NGs from any previous high school terms. If you do have an F/NG from a previous high school term, you only have until next Friday — August 16th — to make up the F/NG! Here’s a last-chance NG make-up opportunity to help you out…
We need some help moving back into the math building with new flooring! Come work off NGs this Monday-Wednesday (August 12-14) afternoons from 1-3pm in the Math building. Be sure to stop by the front desk FIRST to pick up an NG make-up form!
Activities/Sports Fees
Some activities/sports begin before school starts. Fees and deadlines will be communicated by teachers/coaches. For fee amounts, please refer to the 2019-2020 School Fee Schedule at maeserprep.org under Parents > School Fees > 2019-2020 School Fee Schedule.
Volunteer Help Needed
Teacher Week Food: August 12-16
Our teachers head back to school before the students. We need parent volunteers to provide a continental breakfast for our teachers’ first day back. This is a great way to let our teachers know we appreciate them and to get a jump start on your volunteer hours for the year! If you can help, please visit our SignUpGenius to sign up: Food for Teacher Week: August 12-16.
New Student Orientation Breakfast: Friday, August 16
We need volunteers to help provide breakfast as we welcome our new students to Maeser! If you are available and willing to help, please visit our SignUpGenius page to sign up: New Student Orientation Breakfast

Ultimate Frisbee
Join the Maeser Ultimate Frisbee team! Ultimate Frisbee is a fun, non-contact, co-ed sport. We’d love to have boys and girls of all grades sign up; we’ll have teams for both high school and middle school. The fall season is shaping up! Current plans are to hold practices Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, games on Fridays at 4-ish p.m. High school tournaments are on September 27-28 and November 8-9. Middle school tournament is November 8-9. To sign up or to request more information, send an e-mail to ultimate.frisbee@maeserprep.org.
Activities/Sports Eligibility for 1st Term 2019-2020
Do you plan on participating in a sport/activity during the 1st term of the 2019-2020 school year? If the answer is yes then your eligibility will be based on your 4th term grades. That is correct, the grades you earned during the 4th term of the 2018-2019 academic year will determine whether or not you can participate and this applies to all 8th-12th graders.
The standard is a 2.7 GPA with no Fs/NGs. An additional requirement for high school students is no Fs/NGs from any previous high school terms. If you do have an F/NG from a previous high school term, you have until August 16 to make up the F/NG. It is the respoonsibility of students to be aware of their individual grades and not the responsibility of the coaches and administration.
Host Families Needed for Foreign Exchange Students
We still need host families for foreign exchange students who will be coming to Maeser this year! Foreign exchange students make a great contribution to our school, our community, and to your family. Students are carefully selected and screened, and they come with their own health insurance and spending money — all that is required from you is a bed, board and welcome. If your family is interested in hosting an exchange student this year, please call Wendy Waldes for more information: wendywaldes@gmail.com or 801-709-3583.
