Welcome Back, Maeser!

We have missed you over the summer and are super excited to kick this year off right! We hope you have enjoyed your break and are ready to jump right back into your Maeser community with classes and activities!

We’ll be on a special schedule for the First Day of School on Monday.

Please note the new 2019-20 Calendar, 2019-20 Maeser Bell Schedules, and 2019-20 Maeser Fee Schedule as posted in Maeser Updates previously.

We will see you at 8:00am on Monday in your Full Dress Uniforms!

IMPORTANT Carpool Information

Enter: 1600 North OR 1200 West
Exit: 1200 West ONLY

Please do NOT stop in the front of the Maeser building. Drive all the way around to the north side and pull forward as far as you can.

There are TWO carpool lanes: the 1600 North lane and the one entering from 1200 West. There is no need to merge until AFTER drop-off, when you round the corner and exit onto 1200 West.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE CHURCH TO PARK OR DROP OFF STUDENTS. They do NOT want the liability. We had our visit this year from the facility manager at the church — they will be towing violators. We have plenty of parking at Maeser.

Our school building opens at 7:00am, so you can drop off your student as early as 7:00am (though there are few teachers here at that time to supervise students).

If you arrive for drop-off between 7:30-7:45am, the carpool lane is usually wide open!

In the afternoon, please give your student a chance to talk to their friends and go to their locker after school. Most students don’t even make it out to their carpool until at least 3:40pm. If you arrive for pick-up after 3:45pm, you won’t have to wait long at all for your student.

Encourage your student to come right out to the car after school to avoid holding up the carpool line.

Attendance Reminders

Students are allowed a combination of 6 tardies/excused absences per class per term. Any additional tardies/excused absences result in an NG (No Grade), and must be made up in Attendance School. Excused first period tardies count towards that limit.

If your student will miss an extended amount of school due to illness or a medical condition, please provide a doctor’s note to the front desk so those absences will not result in an NG.

Important Information for Students Taking AP and Concurrent Enrollment Classes

IMPORTANT AP Class Enrollment Procedures

If your student will be taking an AP class this year, please be aware of the following:

  • Every student enrolled in an AP class at Maeser is required to take the AP Exam associated with that class. (Art students may take AP Art for two years before submitting an AP Portfolio.)
  • A $100 AP exam fee will be assessed on September 1st for each AP class enrollment. AP Art students will be assessed the AP Exam Fee in their first year of enrollment; the fee will be waived for the second year of enrollment.
  • Students whose AP exam fees are not paid by the October 3 fall fee payment deadline will be DROPPED from their AP class(es) at the end of Quarter 1 and placed in another class.

We appreciate your support in keeping our AP tradition strong!

UVU Concurrent Enrollment DEADLINE is in Two Weeks!

Students planning on taking a Concurrent Enrollment class during the 2019/20 school year (next year) should begin the enrollment and registration process with UVU now! Students who are not admitted to UVU and registered for their CE class through UVU by the Maeser add/drop deadline (Friday, August 30) will be removed from the class.

Go to www.uvu.edu/concurrent and follow the steps to start the admission process ASAP!

Community Resources

Lindon City Preparedness Fair & Citywide Drill

The Lindon City Preparedness Fair will be held on Saturday, August 24, from 12-6pm at the Lindon Community Center (25 N Main Street in Lindon).

Lindon City will hold its 11th annual Lindon City Drill on Monday, September 16, at 6pm. The drill is sponsored by the city in cooperation with local businesses, schools, and churches to practice communication and response in a situation where normal communication channels have broken down ad normal resources are not enough.

For more information about the Preparedness Fair (including fair vendors and a class schedule) and the Lindon City Drill-Citywide Check-in, visit www.LindonCityDrill.com or click here for details: Lindon City Preparedness Fair.

Child Abuse Prevention

As part of the Maeser community, we support not only students but families as well. Here is a great resource for parents the state provides to educate and prevent abuse, while keeping family safety FIRST! https://training.pcautah.org/login/pcau/

Sports Announcements

Register My Athlete

High school students participating in girls soccer, girls volleyball, girls tennis, cross-country, or baseball must register in Register My Athlete BEFORE they can participate. Click here to access the parent instructions for creating a Register My Athlete account.

Middle School 4th Period Sports Class

Priority for the 4th period sports class will be given to middle school students who are *currently* on a fall sports team. If the class is full, students who are not on the sports team may have to choose another elective.

Ultimate Frisbee

Join the Maeser Ultimate Frisbee team! Ultimate Frisbee is a fun, non-contact, co-ed sport. We’d love to have boys and girls of all grades sign up; we’ll have teams for both high school and middle school. The fall season is shaping up! Current plans are to hold practices Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, games on Fridays at 4-ish p.m. High school tournaments are on September 27-28 and November 8-9. Middle school tournament is November 8-9. To sign up or to request more information, send an e-mail to ultimate.frisbee@maeserprep.org.

Swimming

Are you a swimmer? Would you like to be a member of the Maeser Swim Team this year? The Maeser Swim team is running on its fourth consecutive year and growing! We would LOVE to have more swimmers join our team. Please contact Head Coach Aaron Burg (swimcoach@maeserprep.org) or Team Manager Daisy Stonely (daisystonely@hotmail.com) for more information.

Activities/Sports Eligibility for 1st Term 2019-2020

Do you plan on participating in a sport/activity during the 1st term of the 2019-2020 school year? If the answer is yes then your eligibility will be based on your 4th term grades. That is correct, the grades you earned during the 4th term of the 2018-2019 academic year will determine whether or not you can participate and this applies to all 8th-12th graders.

The standard is a 2.7 GPA with no Fs/NGs. An additional requirement for high school students is no Fs/NGs from any previous high school terms. If you do have an F/NG from a previous high school term, you have until August 16 to make up the F/NG. It is the responsibility of students to be aware of their individual grades and not the responsibility of the coaches and administration.

  1. Howdy Maeser 🙂

When I click on the Pleasant Grove link, it takes me to Facebook and says that the content isn’t available. Do I need to be invited to the group?
