Math Counts

Congratulations to Tanish Shetty, Luke Pratt, and Ishant Batra for earning 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in the Central UT Chapter Mathcounts competition this past week. This is a huge accomplishment given the caliber of competition these students faced. Congrats, Tanish, Luke, and Ishant!

Performing Arts

Each year the Utah Music Education Association provides an ability for all Utah musicians across the state to audition for the Utah All State Jazz Band – 19 total available spots. There are a number of categories including:

  • Saxophone
  • Trumpet
  • Trombone
  • Rhythm Section (Piano, Bass, Guitar, Drums)
  • Vocals

Saipele Fredricksen was selected to be the solo vocalist for this band, this is a huge honor. He is thrilled for this opportunity and will be performing in St George at the Convention Center and Abravanel Hall. It is exciting for Maeser students to be excelling in both academics and other activities that continues to highlight excellence coming out of Maeser.

Mock Trial

Our 2 High School Mock Trial teams competed in State competition on Saturday at the U of U Law School. Both teams had two trials lasting about 2½ hours each. They represented the defendant in a criminal case against teams from throughout Utah including Rowland Hall, Highland and Mt View. Both Maeser teams won BOTH of their trials which were judged by a panel of three judges. Team members acted as the Bailiff, attorneys or witnesses and were scored individually by the judges with a total team score determining the winner for that judge. To win the trial, teams had to “win” two of the three judges on the panel. You can be proud of our team members as they represented Maeser so well. Our next competition will be this Saturday when our teams will compete again, but represent the Prosecution side of the case.

Lottery & Sibling Enrollment

We will be sending offers for the 2024-25 school year to siblings of current students next Wednesday, February 14, if we received an application for them. You will need to accept the offer by Monday, February 19 at noon, and enroll by Wednesday, February 21 at noon.

If you have NOT submitted an application for your current student’s sibling(s) for the 2024-25 school year, you must do that ASAP and they will be placed on the waitlist (they will have priority status on the waitlist).

If you have any questions about 2024-25 enrollment, please contact our registrar at registrar@maeserprep.org.

HS Sweethearts Dance

The high school Sweethearts Dance will be February 17th from 8-11 pm in the Maeser gym. Tickets will be on sale during lunch starting February 12th in Ms. Moser’s room. Tickets can be purchased using cash or card.

Volunteer Opportunities

Girls Night

Friday, February 16th starting at 12pm Salma and Eva are hosting another exciting “Girl’s Night!” at Maeser. The theme for this Girl’s Night is “Galentines”, so any Valentines versions of the snacks below are preferable over the original! We’re wanting to focus on the colors pink, red, and white. For more details and to sign up to help, please visit our SignUpGenius: Girl’s Night! February 16th. Thank you for your support!

Gift Cards for Teachers

Thank you for your support this year. Your generosity with bringing in food and helping with various needs has been overwhelming. Thank you!

At this time, we are asking for gift cards to give to teachers when they want to purchase items (including food) for various class activities, and for the administration to give to teachers for a pat on the back and a token of appreciation. If you’re inclined please review the available slots and click on the button to sign up: Gift Cards for Teachers.

Lunch Volunteers

Do you need to get your volunteer hours? We need help selling and serving lunch every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11:15-12:00pm. To sign up to help please email Jared Norris at jared.norris@maeserprep.org

Teacher Appreciation Donations

Thank you to those who have donated treats and goodies the past few months. We would like to resupply the faculty lounge with a variety of treats/drinks. The following link has an updated signupgenius that has a variety of items listed that are popular with the staff, but is not limited to those items only. If you can help, please visit the following link to sign up (can be used for volunteer hours!): Help Provide Teacher Treats. Thank you for your generosity!

Report Your Volunteer Hours

DON’T FORGET! Report your volunteer hours once you’ve dropped off your donation: Report Parent Service Hours. Each $5 spent for donations counts as one hour of volunteer service!

Counseling Announcements

9th Grade CCRs

9th grade students & parents: It is time to schedule your annual CCR meeting with me, Ms Heather. During this meeting we will discuss graduation progress, plans for the next year, college and post high school plans, and choose classes for next year. We welcome parents in the CCRs but can see a student without a parent present. I look forward to meeting with you. Look for the email I sent out this week with the link to my calendar!

Counseling Donations

The Middle School Counseling team is in need of large bags of individual sized candy. You can use this towards your volunteer hours!

Kind: an assortment- chocolate, hard candy like jolly ranchers, tootsie pops or rolls, whatever comes in the assorted bags is fine. We would like some non-chocolate as well.

Amount: 4-5 bags/month

Can We Reach You In Case Of Emergency?

It’s important to keep your contact information up to date and opt-in to receive text messages from Maeser — in case of an emergency, this is how we notify parents! In addition, we use your contact information to notify you about important school events and school fees deadlines.

Here’s how to make sure you’re getting all of our important announcements and information:

Opt In For School Text Messages

Our school utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts, student fees, and more. We will only use text messaging for urgent and important information.

You can participate in this service by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587.

You can also opt out of text messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”.

Update Your Contact Information

If any of your contact information has changed – email address, mailing address, phone number – please let us know asap so we can be sure you’re getting school and teacher communications.

Thank you for helping us keep in contact with your family!
