REMINDER: Required In-Person Advisory Today
Today (Friday, August 18) is the first Advisory Friday of Quarter 1, which means all students are required to come to campus.
If your student is ill or otherwise unable to attend In-Person Advisory Friday, please call the front office (801-235-9000) to excuse their absence the same way you would for any other school day.
HS Back to School Stomp
We’d like to welcome everyone back with a beach-themed high school stomp sponsored by the new student council! It will be held tonight, August 18th, at Maeser from 8-11. Admission is free of charge, and all high school students are invited!
Lunch Options Next Week
Next week we will offer sandwiches on Tuesday and pizza on Wednesday. Our vendor for sandwiches raised the price from last year so we will now be charging $6 for the sandwich and chips. The pizza will be $2 per slice.
On Thursday, Yummy’s Korean Barbecue will be providing lunch options. The options will be Teriyaki Chicken Rice and Mac Salad and each one will cost $7. We will be taking pre-orders for these and more information will come out shortly on how to pre-order.
Microwaves are available in the lunchroom for students who bring lunch from home. Please note: we do NOT have refrigerator facilities for student use.
MS Shakespeare Starts Today
Come join Middle School Shakespeare. Open to all students grade 7-9 (yup, Freshmen can be on the team). Come join our award winning Shakespeare team. This is an awesome experience that really builds community at Maeser. Not an actor? Great! We’ll give you a small role with no lines. Don’t know Shakespeare? Great! We do and can teach you.
Rehearsals are Fridays 1-3:30pm in the cafeteria. Our first rehearsal will be TODAY — Friday, August 18 — and all relevant information (including travel plans, cost, etc.) will be discussed.
Volunteer Opportunities
Mock Trial Attorney Coaches
Our High School and Middle School Mock Trial Teams are looking for Attorney Coaches! If you are looking for a way to support Maeser and are an attorney here in Utah, we would welcome your involvement in our Mock Trial program. We rely on our Attorney Coaches to help teach the finer points of the law, court procedure and student roles (attorney, witness, bailiff). We meet weekly on Fridays. Our state competition begins in February, 2024. If you are interested or have questions, please contact Mr. Geary at: douglas.geary@maeserprep.org.
Protein Powder for Weights Classes
In an effort to provide our students with a more complete weight training program, we would like to offer them Whey Protein drinks after each workout. This is, of course, just an option for the students in the weights classes.
For more details and to sign up to help, please visit our Sign-Up Genius: Protein Powder for Weights Classes. Thank you very much!
Report Your Volunteer Hours
DON’T FORGET! Report your volunteer hours once you’ve dropped off your donation: Report Parent Service Hours. Each $5 spent for donations counts as one hour of volunteer service!

Sports Announcements
MS Cross Country
Monday-Thursday from 3:45-4:45pm. There are no tryouts, so if you want to be on the team come join us!
HS & MS Ultimate Disk
All students of all grades are invited to join Maeser’s Ultimate Disk program. Ultimate is a super fun co-ed sport that continues to grow year over year and Maeser’s program is going into its tenth year. Practices for fall season start at the end of August and will go to early November. The season includes weekly games and one or two tournaments. For more information, e-mail ultimate.frisbee@maeserprep.org.
Fall 23-24 Sports Academic Eligibility
Eligibility for participation in fall sports/activities will be determined by 4th term grades. All students (middle and high school) must have earned a 2.7 GPA with no Fs. In addition, high school students cannot have any Fs/NGs/Incompletes from previous high school terms. All Fs/NGs must be made up by the last day of term.
Sports Physicals
All students, middle school and high school, who will be playing sports this year (2023-24) need a physical in order to play. Physicals completed on or after March 10, 2023 are good until July 15, 2024. Any physicals completed before March 10 of this year will not be accepted (per UHSAA policy) for the upcoming school year.
Here is a link to the UHSAA form which Maeser uses for ALL athletes: UHSAA Physical Form
Counseling Announcements
Class Changes
Please note that the deadline for class changes is TODAY, Friday, August 18th, at noon. After this time, we won’t be able to accept further class change requests. Kindly review and finalize your schedules before the deadline.

- Amount: 4-5 bags/month
Can We Reach You In Case Of Emergency?
It’s important to keep your contact information up to date and opt-in to receive text messages from Maeser — in case of an emergency, this is how we notify parents! In addition, we use your contact information to notify you about important school events and school fees deadlines.
Here’s how to make sure you’re getting all of our important announcements and information:
Opt In For School Text Messages
Our school utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts, student fees, and more. We will only use text messaging for urgent and important information.
You can participate in this service by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587.
You can also opt out of text messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”.
Update Your Contact Information
If any of your contact information has changed – email address, mailing address, phone number – please let us know asap so we can be sure you’re getting school and teacher communications.
Thank you for helping us keep in contact with your family!
