Back To School Activities & Information

Student Meet & Greet: Thursday, August 11

Mark your calendar and plan to join us at our Back to School student meet & greet on Thursday, August 11 from 6:00-7:30pm at the school. Meet your teachers, catch up with your friends, and get psyched for the first day of school on Monday, August 15!

Student Orientation: Friday, August 12

We will be hosting a Student Orientation on Friday, August 12 for all students in 7th-9th grades and all NEW students in 10th-12th grades. Parents are invited to attend with their students.

Please plan to attend at the following times, by grade:

  • 8:00-9:00am — 7th grade students and parents
  • 9:30-10:30am — 8th grade students and parents
  • 11:00am-12:00pm — 9th grade and *new* 10th-12th grade students and parents

Student Class Schedules for 2022-23

The PowerSchool parent and student portals are currently offline while we finish summer updates and maintenance.

PowerSchool will reopen on Monday, August 8 with 2022-23 schedule information. Schedule change information will be given at that time.

If your student is new to Maeser this year, you will receive an email during the week of August 1-5 with your parent login information for PowerSchool.

Parent Help Needed!

Our teachers will be working hard during the week before school to get ready for your students! We still need parents who can help donate gift cards for lunches and other Teacher Week activities. Have Your 2022-23 Plans Changed? Please Let Us Know ASAP!

If your plans for 2022-23 enrollment have changed and your student will not be attending Maeser Prep, please contact us ASAP to let us know by emailing us at registrar@maeserprep.orgplease include your student’s name, their 2022-23 grade, and the school they will be attending next year. We are sending out record requests for our new students and want to help you avoid having your student’s school file sent to the wrong school. We are also creating schedules for next year and want to make sure students can get into the classes they’ve requested.

Proposed Changes to the 2022-23 Fee Schedule & Spend Plan — input due by Aug 8, 2022

The board is proposing some changes to the 2022-23 Fee Schedule & Spend Plan. The draft is here: Proposed 2022-2023 Fee Schedule. If you have any questions or feedback about the changes, please email finance@maeserprep.org by August 8, 2022. The board will be voting on the revised version in their August board meeting.

Auditions for ALL-SCHOOL Musical

ALL-SCHOOL MUSICAL auditions for XANADU will take place the 2nd week of school in the fall: August 25/26th. We perform in February 2023, at either Liahona Theater or Classic Skate. Prepare 16-32 bars of a pop/rock/power ballad. More details to come, but get excited and start practicing!

Mock Trial Teams

Maeser will be sponsoring 2 High School Mock Trial Teams this year for students in grades 9-12! We need a minimum of 7 students on each team, but can have up to 12. We will also sponsor a Middle School Team again this year for students in grades 7 & 8. Check Maeser Updates for future announcements on our initial meeting day/time. If you are interested and haven’t been part of Mock Trial previously, please contact Coach Geary: douglas.geary@maeserprep.org. MOCK ON!

Uniforms

School starts in just over two weeks — here’s how to make sure your student has the correct uniform items to start the year right!

All polos, blazers, sweaters, and cardigans MUST have the Maeser logo. Logoed items and high school plaid skirts can be purchased at Landsend.com and/or Dennis Uniform (online or in-person).

Non-logoed items (pants, shorts, khaki and navy skirts, dress shirts) can be purchased where any uniform style clothing is sold.

PLEASE NOTE: New uniform items can take a while to arrive from our vendors when purchased online, especially as we get close to the start of the school year, so we highly recommend placing your order as early as possible.

Used Uniform Exchange

Used Uniform Exchange Buying & Selling Guidelines

Due to the lack of storage space, Maeser does not accept uniform donations. TO SELL UNIFORMS

1. Launder all uniform items. Make sure there are no holes, stains, or excessive wear on the clothing.

2. On an envelope safety-pinned to the uniform item, clearly indicate:

  • Your name
  • Article of clothing for sale
  • Size/gender
  • Price
  • Payment method (cash or Venmo account) If using Venmo please include your name and Venmo username (with QR code or last 4 digits of phone).

3. Drop off items to sell at Maeser on Tuesday Aug 2 between 8:30-9:30am or 3:30- 6:00pm (the uniform committee would appreciate an earlier drop off so they have time to set up the sale!)

** NOTE: The front office can not take items for the uniform exchange. Please drop off uniforms to be sold ONLY at the designated times.**

4. Sign the Uniform Exchange Waivers.

** The uniform committee reserves the right to turn away any uniform items that are not in good condition or that do not meet the Uniform Code.

** At the end of the sale, YOU are responsible to pick up any unsold items. You will be required to show a picture ID to pick up your envelopes with money from sold items.

** Maeser WILL NOT take donations of unsold uniform items.

TO BUY UNIFORMS

  • Cash: Bring lots of small bills (ones and fives).
  • Venmo: If a seller accepts Venmo, you may pay them using your Venmo account. You will need to show the uniform committee proof of your venmo payment before you will be allowed to take the uniforms items.

If you are selling items at the Uniform Exchange, please pick up your envelopes for sold items AND your unsold items between 8 and 8:30 pm.

** The front desk CANNOT keep envelopes with money in them for pick up at a later time. If you do not pick up your money at the end of the sale, the money will be donated to Maeser’s Uniform Fund. **

Sports Announcements

HS Girls Volleyball Tryouts

High school girls volleyball tryouts are Monday and Tuesday, August 1st and 2nd from 9am to noon in the Maeser gym. Practice starts on Wednesday, August 3rd from 9 to noon also until school begins.

MS Girls Volleyball Tryouts

Middle school girls volleyball tryouts will be held on August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd from 1-3pm in the Maeser gym. Email dana.steinhorst@maeserprep.org with any questions.

HS Girls Tennis

Anyone interested in playing Girls Tennis this year, please contact Coach Couch at scott.couch@maeserprep.orgWe will be meeting at the school on Monday, August 1st from 4:30 to 6:00 pm.

HS Baseball Tryouts

High School Baseball Tryouts are Monday and Tuesday, August 1st and 2nd from 4-6:30pm at Rotary Field in American Fork (200 E 250 S). Any questions? Please email Coach Gilbert at ted.gilbert@maeserprep.org.

HS Boys Volleyball Tryouts

High school boys volleyball tryouts will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, August 2nd and 3rd from 6pm-8pm in the Maeser gym. If you have questions contact Coach Call at darci.call@maeserprep.org.

Fall 2022 Sports Academic Eligibility

Eligibility for participation in fall activities/sports will be determined by 4th term grades. All students must have earned a Q4 2.7 GPA with no Fs. In addition, high school students cannot have any Fs/NGs/Incompletes from previous high school terms. If the F/NG/Incomplete is made up by the beginning of the sports season they will be able to participate as long as they have a 2.7 GPA.

Sports Physicals

All students, middle school and high school, who will be playing sports next year (2022-23) need a physical in order to play. Physicals completed on or after April 15, 2022 will be good until July 15, 2023. Any physicals completed before April 15 of this year will not be accepted (per UHSAA policy) for the upcoming school year.

Opt In For School Text Messages

Our school utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts, student fees, and more. We will only use text messaging for urgent and important information.

You can participate in this service by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587.

You can also opt out of text messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”.

Update Your Contact Information

If any of your contact information has changed – email address, mailing address, phone number – please let us know asap so we can be sure you’re getting school and teacher communications.
