Used Uniform Sale
To help our students and their families, we are pleased to hold a used school uniform sale on Tuesday, August 7 from 6-8pm that will include gently worn clothing. This sale is an opportunity to allow parents to resell their students’ uniforms, and for parents to purchase needed uniforms in good condition at a low cost.
To facilitate a smooth uniform sale, here are some guidelines and instructions:
Date & Time: Tuesday August 7, 6-8pm
Room: Maeser Lunchroom
TO PURCHASE: The Used Uniform Sale is CASH ONLY — bring lots of small bills (ex. $1 and $5).
TO SELL USED ITEMS: Drop off labeled items to the Front Office on Tuesday, August 7th from 9am-12pm or in the Lunchroom from 4pm-6pm and sign a waiver. Please do not leave your items unattended, without signing a waiver, or without properly labeling each item (see below).
How to Label Your Used Uniforms for Sale: All items must be laundered and have no holes, tears or stains. Label each item by safety pinning an envelope to each item. Each envelope needs your first and last name, gender and size of clothing item (ex. Women’s Small), and sale price written on each envelope. When your item is sold the money will go inside the envelope for you to pick up at the end of the sale (8 pm).
To Pick up Money and Unsold Clothing: All money and unsold items must be picked up at the end of the Uniform Sale — 8-8:30pm in the Lunchroom. Important note: Due to liability and school regulations, envelopes with cash in them from your sold uniforms and any unsold uniform clothing items must be picked up at the end of the uniform sale (8-8:30pm) with a photo ID.
Pick up or Donate: If you want your unsold uniforms back, you must come to the end of the sale to reclaim them. Envelopes with cash and uniform items that are not picked up at the end of the sale will be considered a donation to the school. Maeser will use the clothing and money to benefit the students at Maeser.
Waiver: To be able to sell your used uniform clothing, you must sign a Maeser Uniform Sale Parent Waiver at the time you drop off your labeled clothing agreeing to the terms of the sale, indicating release of liability of Maeser and volunteers running the sale, acknowledgement to pick up donated items/money within a half hour of the sale ending or they will be considered donations to the school, the name(s) of those who will be allowed to pick up items/money at the end of the sale (a driver’s license will be required).
To help our school community, the Maeser Uniform Committee has created a suggested guideline for pricing:
- Polo shirts: $3-$5
- Dress shirts: $3-$5
- Cardigans: $10
- Shorts: $3-$5
- Pants: $3-$5
- Skirts: $5-$8
- PE clothing: $2-$5
- Ties: $5
- Blazers: $25

No time to volunteer?
Did you know you can make a donation in lieu of volunteer hours? Volunteer hours can be “bought out” at $7.50 per hour (or $300 for the full 40 hours). Donations can be made at the front desk during office hours or on our RevTrak fee payment site. If you make a donation in lieu of volunteer hours, please remember to record your donation at the link above!
Host Families Needed for Foreign Exchange Students
We still need host families for foreign exchange students who will be coming to Maeser this year! Foreign exchange students make a great contribution to our school, our community, and to your family. Students are carefully selected and screened, and they come with their own health insurance and spending money — all that is required from you is a bed, board and welcome. If your family is interested in hosting an exchange student this year, please call Wendy Waldes for more information: wendywaldes@gmail.com or 801-709-3583.
Sports Announcements
Sports Eligibility
Sports Information for NEW Maeser High School Students
If you are new to Maeser Prep and are will be in 10th-12th grade, OR will be in 9th grade but have tried out for a sport at another Utah high school, AND you want to play high school sports, please contact Jared Norris at jared.norris@maeserprep.org to discuss eligibility requirements. The UHSAA (Utah High School Activities Association) implemented new eligibility requirements last year that could possibly impact your participation at the varsity level.
Sports & Activities Eligibility Policy for Fall Sports (Quarter 1)
Academic eligibility for high school students wanting to play a fall sport will be based on grades from the 4th term of 2017-18. This includes students who are transferring to Maeser Prep. The minimum requirement is a 2.0 with no Fs/NGs. Please note below that there will be changes to this policy starting 2nd term.
Sports & Activities Eligibility Policy Change Starting 2nd Term
Starting the 2nd term of the 2018-2019 school year, student eligibility for extra-curricular activities/sports (including non-UHSAA sports/activities) will be contingent upon grades from the previous term. The minimum GPA will be a 2.7 with no Fs/NGs. Students will also be expected to maintain a 2.7 during the term that the sport/activity is taking place. Please note below that there will be additional changes to this policy starting 3rd term.
Sports & Activities Eligibility Policy Change Starting 3rd Term
Starting the 3rd term, students who have an NG or failing grade from ANY previous high school terms will not be eligible until that F or NG is made up. For example, if a junior failed a freshman course he/she will be required to make up this course before participation in extracurricular activities. We recommend that any students who are affected by this policy take advantage of the fall semester to make up these classes! If the student has an NG, they can begin making those up in August when the front staff returns. If it is a failing grade that is the issue, please contact your student’s counselor to discuss options for making up the failed credit.
Pre-Tryout Requirements
Sports Medical Physicals (all grades)
All students (7th-12th grades) are required to have a physical completed before they can play a sport. Physicals are good for one year. If a student-athlete does not have one he/she will not be able to play. Please bring a copy of this form to your student’s physical exam for their doctor to fill out: UHSAA Pre-Participation Physical Form.
Online Registration for Fall High School Sports
High school students who participate in girls volleyball, girls soccer, girls tennis, boys golf, and cross-country must complete the online registration through Register My Athlete. However, please DO NOT start this until July 9th.The school is updating this site for Maeser Prep and it will not be ready until that time. If you have questions please contact Jared Norris at jared.norris@maeserprep.org.
Fees for Sports & Activities
All sports and activity fees are due BEFORE your student participates. We will no longer use the deposit/balance model we used last year for sports–everything will be due up front. This will most immediately affect those who plan to participate in fall sports and the high school and middle school Shakespeare competitions. Please plan accordingly so you have funds available to pay for these activities up front.
Tryouts for Sports Open to All Grades

For 2018-19 the swimming team will hold practices in the morning at the Orem Fitness Center.
