Fee Announcements

2018-19 Fee Schedule Now Available

Our 2018-19 fee schedule is now available on our website. You can access the fee schedule from the Parents tab (hover over Parents, then Pay School Fees, and then choose “2018-2019 School Fee Schedule”) or download it by clicking here: 2018-2019 School Fee Schedule.

Fee Policy Change for Sports & Activities

Starting with the 2018-19 school year, all sports and activity fees will be due BEFORE your student participates. We will no longer use the deposit/balance model we used last year for sports–everything will be due up front. This will most immediately affect those who plan to participate in fall sports (including those that start practicing in the summer) and the high school and middle school Shakespeare competitions.

Please plan accordingly so you have funds available to pay for these activities up front. (What a great time for students to get summer jobs!)

Review Sets for Fourth Form Latin

Attention: Fourth Form Latin Students! If you want to be up and running when school starts, there is a Latin IV 2018/19 class in Quizlet that has sets for all the review (First, Second, & Third Form) vocabulary needed for the first several lessons in the upcoming year.

Iliad Summer Reading Group

Mr. Simmons will be out of town for the next two weeks, so the Iliad Summer Reading Group won’t meet again until July 19th. We will continue our discussions through the Google Classroom (code: rdqb1ew).

Sports Eligibility Announcements

HS Fall Sports Eligibility – Quarter 1

Academic eligibility for high school students wanting to play a fall sport will be based on grades from the 4th term of 2017-18. This includes students who are transferring to Maeser Prep. The minimum requirement is a 2.0 with no Fs/NGs. Please note below that there will be changes to this policy starting 2nd term.

Sports & Activities Eligibility Policy Change Starting 2nd Term

Starting the 2nd term of the 2018-2019 school year, student eligibility for extra-curricular activities/sports (including non-UHSAA sports/activities) will be contingent upon grades from the previous term. The minimum GPA will be a 2.7 with no Fs/NGs. Students will also be expected to maintain a 2.7 during the term that the sport/activity is taking place. Please note below that there will be additional changes to this policy starting 3rd term.

Sports & Activities Eligibility Policy Change Starting 3rd Term

Starting the 3rd term, students who have an NG or failing grade from ANY previous high school terms will not be eligible until that F or NG is made up. For example, if a junior failed a freshman course he/she will be required to make up this course before participation in extracurricular activities. We recommend that any students who are affected by this policy take advantage of the fall semester to make up these classes! If the student has an NG, they can begin making those up in August when the front staff returns. If it is a failing grade that is the issue, please contact your student’s counselor to discuss options for making up the failed credit.

Online Registration for Fall High School Sports

High school students who participate in girls volleyball, girls soccer, girls tennis, boys golf, and cross-country must complete the online registration through Register My Athlete. However, please DO NOT start this until July 9th.The school is updating this site for Maeser Prep and it will not be ready until that time. If you have questions please contact Jared Norris at jared.norris@maeserprep.org.

Medical Physicals

All students (7th-12th grades) are required to have a physical completed before they can play a sport. Physicals are good for one year. If a student-athlete does not have one he/she will not be able to play. Please bring a copy of this form to your student’s physical exam for their doctor to fill out: UHSAA Pre-Participation Physical Form.

Sports Information for NEW Maeser High School Students

If you are new to Maeser Prep and are will be in 10th-12th grade, OR will be in 9th grade but have tried out for a sport at another Utah high school, AND you want to play high school sports, please contact Jared Norris at jared.norris@maeserprep.org to discuss eligibility requirements. The UHSAA (Utah High School Activities Association) implemented new eligibility requirements last year that could possibly impact your participation at the varsity level.

Sports Tryouts & Information

Middle School Sports

Girls volleyball, boys soccer, and cross country are offered at Maeser Prep during the fall for 7th and 8th graders. If you are on the team, your elective will be the 4th period Middle School Sports class as this will be when your practices are held. Tryouts for boys soccer will be held sometime during the week of August 13th (specific date has not been set yet). There are no tryouts for cross country — please contact Jessica Kemper at jessica.kemper@maeserprep.org if you have questions about cross country.

MS Girls Volleyball Tryouts

Tryouts for middle school girls volleyball (7th and 8th graders) will be August 8th, 9th, and 10th from 2:30-4:00pm in the school gym. Practices will be held August 13th, 15th, and 16th from 2:00-3:30. If you have any questions please contact Coach Call (darci.call@maeserprep.org).

Swimming

For 2018-19 the swimming team will hold practices in the morning at the Orem Fitness Center. Students interested in swimming will have the option of enrolling in a 1st period swimming class that will allow enough time for practices to occur. This class will be optional as some students might have an academic class that conflicts. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Burg (swimcoach@maeserprep.org) or Daisy Stonely (daisystonely@hotmail.com).

Ultimate Frisbee

Open Play during summer every Wednesday at 10:00 am at Bonneville Park in Orem. All are invited to come play, student, faculty, and parents. Bring cleats and water.
