Winterim Registration Starts Monday!
Student requests for Winterim will take place in Socratic classes starting Monday, September 25th. Preference will be given to seniors, then juniors, then sophomores, and finally freshmen — students should come prepared with a list of three Winterim options to request in case their first and/or second choices fill up. Winterim placements will be finalized the following week, after which students have until Friday, October 13 to make class changes with the counselors.
Please take a moment before Monday the 25th to review this year’s Winterim registration and fee payment dates and Winterim Catalog with your students and discuss this year’s offerings and their associated fees.
If your student is planning to submit a proposal for an Independent Winterim this year, those proposals are due in the front office by 4:00pm Monday, September 25th. Please review the Independent Winterim Guidelines and rubric on the last two pages of the Winterim Catalog with your student so they can put together a strong proposal. The Independent Winterim Committee will review proposals and return them to students for revisions if necessary; those revisions are due by Friday, September 29th. Questions about Independent Winterim proposals? Contact Mr. Simmons.
Fall ACT Prep Class
Does your student need help preparing for the ACT? We still have a few spots open in the Fall ACT Prep Class that starts this week! The class will run for each of the next three Thursdays: September 28, October 5, and October 12. Students must attend all three sessions. There is no cost for 10th grade students to attend the class; the cost is $120 for Maeser students in 11th and 12th grades. (If a 10th grade student signs up for the class and then does not attend, he or she will be responsible to pay the full fee of $120.)

Model United Nations
Maeser will represent Somalia, Djibouti, Jamaica, and Estonia at MUN on 13 Oct. 2017. There are several committee options for Estonia and one for both Somalia and Djibouti. The google classroom code is oga9hp. Have your student Join the classroom and complete the registration form. Mrs. Smith will have their country and committee assignment ready for them. Thank-you to the two parents who volunteered to chaperone. Two more chaperones would be ideal. Questions? Contact Mrs. Smith: allison.smith@maeserprep.org.
HS Math Team
The High School Math Team starts practicing during lunch on Monday, September 25th in Mrs. Plott’s room. Students (9th-12th) from all levels of math are invited to participate.
