Carpool Caution

Our neighbors on 400 W have asked us to please remind our carpool students who are waiting for pick-up down on that street to PLEASE respect their property while waiting for their carpool. They have noticed an increase in students jumping off their wall and tearing up the shrubs in their yards.

400 W is not an official carpool pick-up spot, so please be cautious and considerate if you are waiting on that very busy, public street!

Winterim Catalog

Our 2023 Winterim Catalog is now available! Please note:

  • Independent Study proposal deadlines and requirements — this year’s deadlines are earlier than in past years! BE AWARE of the directions and dates.
  • MTech student deadlines and requirements — there is a specific application and proposal for MTech students.
  • Open registration dates — priority registration is by grade (seniors first, then juniors, etc). If your student misses registering on their priority registration date, they give up registration priority.

Sports Announcements

Fall 2022 Sports Academic Eligibility

Eligibility for participation in fall activities/sports will be determined by 4th term grades. All students must have earned a Q4 2.7 GPA with no Fs. In addition, high school students cannot have any Fs/NGs/Incompletes from previous high school terms. If the F/NG/Incomplete is made up by the beginning of the sports season they will be able to participate as long as they have a 2.7 GPA.

Sports Physicals

All students, middle school and high school, who will be playing sports next year (2022-23) need a physical in order to play. Physicals completed on or after April 15, 2022 will be good until July 15, 2023. Any physicals completed before April 15 of this year will not be accepted (per UHSAA policy) for the upcoming school year.

Counseling Announcements

Sophomore CCRs

College and Career Readiness (CCR) meetings with this year’s Sophomores start on Monday, September 12! In this meeting we will go over graduation requirements, college and scholarship plans, and make sure your student is on track for graduation, as well as course requests for next year.

We have reserved meeting times for Sophomores ONLY between September 12th through November 16th, and encourage you to attend with your student — please coordinate with your student to avoid double-booking appointments.

Your student should plan on coming directly to the front office at the time of their scheduled meeting. (We prefer not to call students out of class to avoid disturbing the class environment.) Your student will be excused for the duration of the meeting and should plan on telling their teacher ahead of time if their meeting starts during a class. We will send a note back with them.

Appointments are between the hours of 11am and 3pm with some exceptions. An online Google chat link can be provided if you choose to join online. Email Mr. Peck personally after you have made your appointment if you prefer the online option.

You can sign up for your Sophomore’s appointment with Mr. Peck using this link: Schedule Your Sophomore’s CCR Appointment.

Boost Your Student’s Study Skills

Strong study skills are critical to academic success.

This is especially true for students heading to middle and high school, where the workload and rigor increase. It is important to teach these skills to all learners, not just those that struggle. Improving study skills also builds confidence, when students feel they can do better, they often do.

Here is a checklist to help you and your student see which skills they have mastered and which skills need extra work:

  • Keep their binder organized
  • Use a homework planner
  • Prioritize work before starting
  • Have a dedicated study space
  • Plan for long term assignments
  • Eliminate distractions
  • Set and keep goals
  • Check their work and correct mistakes before turning it in
  • Create routines and habits
