Maeser Alumna Wins AAPI Essay Competition
Last March, 2021 graduate Mona Ueno entered an essay contest sponsored by AAPI, an Asian American organization. From over 200 applicants, Mona was recently announced as the first place winner of a scholarship. You can read her essay here: https://aapistories.org/essays/hs-1-1. Congratulations, Mona!
Return Socratic Novels from Semester 1 by Wednesday, January 12
Your student’s Socratic teacher may have called for first semester novels to be turned in during finals. If your student did not return a textbook, they have been charged a replacement fee on their student account. The last day to return these novels and have the fee removed is Wednesday, January 12. After that date, we will purchase replacements and the fee will remain on your student’s account and will be subject to late fees.
Semester 2 Schedule Changes
Schedule change requests can be made starting now through January 28th at 1:00pm. The counselors will begin to work on the changes during winterim in the order they are submitted. All schedule changes will be handled online using the online Google form. The first schedule change form submission is free but all other submissions cost $10 (to be paid in the front office before the change will be made). Please understand that counselors will be busy with Winterim and other tasks during January. We will respond to emails but any and all changes must go through the schedule change request form. We will not make changes from an email request.
Please note that being thorough and entering requests and alternate requests is helpful; however, if a class is full, you will be placed on the waitlist. Waitlists do change daily. Please don’t send multiple emails asking about schedule changes, as this will slow the process down. We work in the order of receipt. Please note: we will do our very best to honor requests, but we can’t guarantee all requests will be available.
Please email your student’s counselor (but remember, all class change requests must go through the schedule change request form above):
NEW Student Lottery Applications For 2022-23
Lottery applications for NEW students for the 2022-23 school year are NOW OPEN in our new online application/enrollment system!
To submit an application for a NEW student, click here to complete the Lottery Application. You can also access the lottery application by visiting our website (www.maeserprep.org) and clicking Admissions and then Submit An Application.
Applications must be received by February 1, 2022 to be included in the 2022-23 lottery. After that date, students will be added to the waitlist in the order their application is submitted.
Remember: DO NOT submit an online application for your CURRENT Maeser student — online applications are for NEW students only (that means new families & new incoming students of current families).
Because this is a brand new application/enrollment system, you will need to select “Create An Account”. (The application/enrollment system is different from your PowerSchool parent account.) You will continue to use the application/enrollment system account to submit additional applications for siblings (this year or in the future) and to enroll your student(s) if they receive an offer following our lottery. Please keep your login info handy.
If you have more than one NEW student applying for Maeser next year, you must submit a separate application for each new student.
REMEMBER: DO NOT submit an online application for your CURRENT Maeser student — online applications are for NEW students only.
If you have questions, please email our registrar at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Winterim & MSI Help Needed
We still have several needs for volunteer help and/or supplies for a few Winterim classes. Every $5 spent = 1 volunteer hour. Thank you in advance for supporting our Winterim and MSI classes!
Help provide Teacher Appreciation opportunities to treat the faculty in a small way — a little cheer goes a long way! Immediate help needed for February-May, please! For more information and to sign up, please visit our SignUpGenius: Teacher Appreciation
Report Your Volunteer Hours
DON’T FORGET! Report your volunteer hours once you’ve dropped off your donation: Report Parent Service Hours. Each $5 spent for donations counts as one hour of volunteer service!
Have you purchased your student’s yearbook yet? The 2021-22 Maeser Yearbook is available to purchase online through Jostens.com.
Yearbooks are currently $55 each (including tax). The price goes up in March — and we often sell out completely before the end of the school year. If you haven’t purchased your student’s yearbook yet, now is the perfect time! Email email@example.com with any questions.
Maeser Hoodies & Sweatshirts
“MAESER” hoodies and “LION” sweatshirts can be purchased online at: https://timpembroidery.com.
Uniform approved (with the Maeser logo) fleece, jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts and 1/4-zips can be purchased at: https://www.landsend.com/co/account/school-uniforms?selectedSchoolNum=900150905.
Q2 Sports Academic Eligibility
Eligibility for participation in any sports/activities during the 2nd term will be based on 1st term grades. Students (7th-12th) must earn a 2.7 GPA with no Fs/NGs. In addition, high school students cannot have any Fs/NGs/Incompletes from previous high school terms. If the F/NG/Incomplete is made up by the beginning of the sports season they will be able to participate.
All students (middle school and high school) who will be playing sports this year need a physical in order to play. Here is a link to the UHSAA form which Maeser uses for ALL athletes: UHSAA Physical Form
