NEW Student Lottery Applications Are Now Open For 2022-23

Lottery applications for NEW students for the 2022-23 school year are NOW OPEN in our brand-new online application system!

To submit an application for a NEW student, click here to complete the Lottery Application. You can also access the lottery application by visiting our website (www.maeserprep.org) and clicking Admissions and then Submit An Application.

Because this is a brand new system, you will need to select “Create An Account”. You will also use this new account to submit additional applications for siblings (so you’ll only need to enter your parent information once).

You’ll also use this account to enroll your student if they receive an offer following our lottery, so please save your login information!

If you have more than one NEW student applying for Maeser next year, you must submit a separate application for each new student. All applications must be received by February 1, 2022 in order to be included in the 2022-23 lottery.

REMEMBER: DO NOT submit an online application for your CURRENT Maeser student — online applications are for NEW students only.

Re-Enrollment For CURRENT Students Is Now Open For 2022-23

Re-enrollment for current Maeser studentswho will be returning for the 2022-23 school year is NOW OPEN with a brand-new online application system accessible inside the PowerSchool parent portal!

STEP ONE: Get Ready for Re-Enrollment

Please take a moment to make sure you can log in to your target=”_blank”>PowerSchool parent account (using your parent credentials, not your student’s login details). If you don’t remember your username or password and can’t recover them using the “Forgot Username or Password” link on the login page, please email us at info@maeserprep.org so we can make sure you can access your account when re-enrollment opens.

STEP TWO: Submit Your Current Student’s Re-Enrollment Application

Re-enrollment applications are now live inside the PowerSchool parent portal. Please check your email for detailed instructions on completing the re-enrollment application for your student(s).

STEP THREE: Pay Your Student’s Re-Enrollment Deposit

These fees have already been assessed in PowerSchool. Deposits are nonrefundable and will be applied to your student’s 2022-2023 student fees. You may pay online (preferred) via our RevTrak fee payment system, or by phone or in person in the front office during business hours. If you are currently on a fee waiver or would like to apply for a fee waiver, please contact finance@maeserprep.org by the re-enrollment deadline in lieu of paying the deposit. You may pay the fee online via RevTrak or by phone or in person in the front office.

The deadline to re-enroll for the 2022-2023 school year is Thursday, December 2nd. This allows us to plan for the number of open spots we can offer to new students in our enrollment lottery in February. For the past several years, our wait list has far exceeded the number of seats available at Maeser, so we want to be sure your Maeser student has a spot reserved for next year!

Advisory Friday Procedures

Please remember that Fridays are considered a school day. In order for our state reporting to align with what’s happening at school, it’s important that all students check-in with their Advisory teacher each Friday.

All students, whether they come to campus or not, need to check-in with their Advisory teacher by 1:00pm each Friday. We understand that sometimes students get busy during the day and forget to do the attendance assignment for their Advisory class, but this is how we track attendance for our state reports. The attendance question should only take a minute (or two at the most!). Students who are on campus can go to any classroom and use a chromebook for that purpose.

Moving forward, students who complete 60% of the attendance questions on Advisory days (meaning they are in attendance 60% of the time on Fridays) will receive an “H” (Highly satisfactory). Students who do not will receive an NG (No Grade). Students with an NG must come to campus on an Advisory Friday, collect an NG slip from the front office, and get it signed by a teacher after they have spent time studying or getting help in their classroom.

Special Presentation Today: North Korean Defectors

When: TODAY – Friday, November 5 @ 10:15am
Where: Maeser Gym
After enduring starvation, persecution, and loss — and living for years with an intense desire for freedom — Jacob risked his life to escape. Please join us as we listen to a story of courage, love, and triumph from a man and woman who defected from North Korea.

**Save The Date** Turkey Trot Fundraiser on November 6th

9am @ Maeser — bring your 3-member relay team!

On the morning of Saturday, November 6th, members of The National Honor Society will be hosting a service event to support the Utah Food Bank. You and your family members will have the opportunity to participate in Maeser’s first ever Turkey Trot 3-mile relay race. Teams of three will run/walk a 1 mile course; each teammate will complete a one-mile loop. The winning team will not only win eternal bragging rights, but will receive a Turkey Trophy to proudly display in their homes!

The entry fee for each team is $15 and all proceeds will be donated to the Utah Food Bank. We will have music and snacks during and after the event. Please watch for more details in the coming weeks on how to sign-up prior to the event…and the day of, for all those last minute deciders. We look forward to seeing you on November 6th. Let’s make this a successful event and hopefully an annual Maeser tradition! Please support this wonderful cause and Maeser’s members of the National Honor Society, who are working hard to make this a reality.

Annual Sterling Scholar Awards Competition for High School Seniors

Entry Questionnaire due Monday, November 8th

Maeser seniors are invited to complete the Sterling Scholar Questionnaire (sent to their Maeser email) to compete at the school level in this important scholarship opportunity.

Maeser will nominate 14 seniors (one in each of the following categories: English, Mathematics, Social Science, Science, World Languages, Computer Technology, Skilled and Technical Sciences Education, Family and Consumer Science, Business and Marketing, Speech/Theatre Arts/Forensics, Vocal Performance, Visual Arts, Instrumental Music, and Dance). Our Maeser nominees will compete against students from schools throughout our area, and then if they succeed, they will advance to the regional level. Students selected as the regional winners, along with finalists, can receive impressive scholarships, depending on the University or College. For further information about the program, visit www.sterlingscholar.org, and select the Wasatch Front Region.

Everyone interested in competing MUST complete the questionnaire prior to the deadline, which is next Monday (November 8) at midnight.

For information about the different competition categories, please review the Sterling Scholar Information Packet.

Sadie Hawkins Sock Hop on November 12th

The Sadie Hawkins Sock Hop (HS only) will be held on Friday, November 12th from 8-11pm in the Maeser Gym. Tickets are $15/couple or $8/stag. Tickets will be sold in Ms. Moser’s room on Thursday during lunch, during Advisory Friday, and at the door. This dance will be a fifties-style sock hop, so dress up in your best polka dots, craziest socks, and use lots of hair gel!

Schoolwide Science Fair

The School Wide Science Fair will be held virtually this year. Students must make a video (YouTube is preferred) about their science project and submit it to the competition by December 1 at midnight. This is the link to submit their project and video to the school science fair: 2021 School Science Fair Sign-Up.

Questions? Ask your science teacher or Mrs. Hansen.
