BYU Model United Nations Diplomacy Camp

Hello future diplomats! BYU Model United Nations is happening this year… COVID 19 style.

The focus will be on public speaking, policy research and writing, parliamentary procedure, and negotiation. Students a chance to earn awards for public speaking and policy writing (position papers), and to learn about leadership and diplomacy from current and former diplomats (including former US Ambassador Deborah Jones, who replaced the late Christopher Stevens in Libya, George Ward, currently serving at the US Mission to the UN in NYC, and more). Motivated students will be able to gain some experience and credentials for their college applications. They will also participate in online simulations to develop negotiation skills. The Virtual Diplomacy Camp will be held at Maeser on Saturday, November 14th at 9:00 am.

Registration is $30.00, to be paid online when you register at the website: https://kennedy.byu.edu/byumun31-diplomacy-camp/.

Students who participate will be expected to participate in preliminary research and writing about topics that will be discussed and debated during the camp. This preparation will happen every Tuesday and Wednesday during lunch in room 215 (Mrs. Allison Smith’s room). The sooner you register, the sooner you can start prepping. For more information please contact Allison Smith: allison.smith@maeserprep.org.
