Attendance Reminders

Students are allowed a combination of 6 tardies/excused absences per class per term. Any additional tardies/excused absences result in an NG (No Grade), and must be made up in Attendance School. Excused first period tardies count towards that limit.

If your student will miss an extended amount of school due to illness or a medical condition, please provide a doctor’s note to the front desk so those absences will not result in an NG.

Important AP and Concurrent Enrollment Information

IMPORTANT AP Class Enrollment Procedures

If your student is taking an AP class this year, please be aware of the following:

  • Every student enrolled in an AP class at Maeser is required to take the AP Exam associated with that class. (Art students may take AP Art for two years before submitting an AP Portfolio.)
  • A $100 AP exam fee will be assessed on September 1st for each AP class enrollment. AP Art students will be assessed the AP Exam Fee in their first year of enrollment; the fee will be waived for the second year of enrollment.
  • Students whose AP exam fees are not paid by the October 3 fall fee payment deadline will be DROPPED from their AP class(es) at the end of Quarter 1 and placed in another class.

We appreciate your support in keeping our AP tradition strong!

DEADLINE for UVU Admission & Registration for Concurrent Enrollment Classes is NEXT FRIDAY!

Students planning on taking a Concurrent Enrollment class during the 2019/20 school year (next year) should begin the enrollment and registration process with UVU now! Students who are not admitted to UVU and registered for their CE class through UVU by next Friday, August 30, will be removed from the class.

Go to www.uvu.edu/concurrent and follow the steps to start the admission process ASAP!

Summer Reading Reporting

If you completed the Maeser Summer Reading Program you can report it on the 2019 Summer Reading Questionnaire. You must be logged in to your student’s school account to access the questionnaire. Responses are due by August 31st in order to be considered for the Maeser Scholar and Maesar Scholar with Distinction awards.

Volunteer Opportunity: Donations Needed for Counseling Department

Here’s a great opportunity to get some volunteer hours! The Counseling Department is in need of several items — all you need to do is purchase them and deliver them to the front office. Items can be dropped off any time between now and August 29. If you can help, please visit our SignUpGenius: Donations Needed for Counseling Department.

Need to report your volunteer hours?

If you’ve completed volunteer hours for this school year but haven’t yet reported them, please visit the form on our website to report those hours: Report Parent Service Hours.

No time to volunteer?

Did you know you can make a donation in lieu of volunteer hours? Volunteer hours can be “bought out” at $7.50 per hour (or $300 for the full 40 hours). Donations can be made at the front desk during office hours or on our RevTrak fee payment site. If you make a donation in lieu of volunteer hours, please remember to record your donation at the link above!

Ultimate Frisbee

Join the Maeser Ultimate Frisbee team! Ultimate Frisbee is a fun, non-contact, co-ed sport. We’d love to have boys and girls of all grades sign up; we’ll have teams for both high school and middle school. The fall season is shaping up! Current plans are to hold practices Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, games on Fridays at 4-ish p.m. High school tournaments are on September 27-28 and November 8-9. Middle school tournament is November 8-9. To sign up or to request more information, send an e-mail to ultimate.frisbee@maeserprep.org.

Swimming

Are you a swimmer? Would you like to be a member of the Maeser Swim Team this year? The Maeser Swim team is running on its fourth consecutive year and growing! We would LOVE to have more swimmers join our team. Please contact Head Coach Aaron Burg (swimcoach@maeserprep.org) or Team Manager Daisy Stonely (daisystonely@hotmail.com) for more information.

Activities/Sports Eligibility for 1st Term 2019-2020

Do you plan on participating in a sport/activity during the 1st term of the 2019-2020 school year? If the answer is yes then your eligibility will be based on your 4th term grades. That is correct, the grades you earned during the 4th term of the 2018-2019 academic year will determine whether or not you can participate and this applies to all 8th-12th graders.

The standard is a 2.7 GPA with no Fs/NGs. An additional requirement for high school students is no Fs/NGs from any previous high school terms. If you do have an F/NG from a previous high school term, you have until August 16 to make up the F/NG. It is the responsibility of students to be aware of their individual grades and not the responsibility of the coaches and administration.
