MSI (Middle School Intensives) Announcements
Middle School Intensives (MSI) begins on Wednesday, January 2nd for all students in grades 7 and 8. School begins at 9:00am and ends at 2:00pm EVERY day during MSI, including Fridays. Before the break, all middle school students received a packet containing more information about MSI and another packet containing permission slips for field trips. You should also have received an email containing this information and an electronic copy of the packet (with the subject line “Middle School Intensives Info + Packet: Group [your student’s MSI group #]”). If you can’t find the packet or the email, please email Mr. Norris at jared.norris@maeserprep.org. Permission slips were due before the start of Christmas Break, so if you haven’t turned those in, please send them with your student on the first day of MSI, January 2nd!
Middle School Spelling Bee
During Middle School Intensives (MSI) the 7th and 8th graders will be participating in class spelling bees with class winners competing in the school bee on January 17. Click here for details: 2019 Spelling Bee Announcement, and here for the spelling list that will be used for the competition: 2019 Spelling Bee Study Guide & Word List.
Student Supplies for MSI Sewing (8th grade)
All 8th grade students will participate in a sewing unit during MSI. You will need to bring the following items to your sewing class (check your Group schedule for the date of your class).
- 2/3 yard of fleece fabric (60 inches wide) for making 2 hats
- Three buttons: one 2-hole, one 4-hole, and a shank button
- Two 8-inch squares of print cotton for a quilt square (you may bring extra fabric for more than one quilt square
If you cannot bring an item, please talk to Mrs. Goodrich BEFORE the first day of the sewing class.
Student Supplies for MSI Ancient Foods & Textiles (7th grade)
All 7th grade students will participate in an Ancient Foods & Textiles (AFT) unit during MSI. You will need to bring the following items to your AFT class (check your Group schedule for the date of your class).
- a medium to large, old, preferably cotton T-shirt that can be repurposed as part of the textiles portion of our class (a small T-shirt probably won’t provide enough material)
- a pair of scissors with your family name taped or written on them capable of cutting said shirt
If you cannot bring an item, please talk to Mrs. Sumsion BEFORE your AFT class.
