I’m Idamae, from West Jordan, Utah. Since 2019, I’ve been teaching high school Spanish 1, 2, and 3, Spanish Speakers, AP Spanish, English as a Second Language (ESL), Leadership, and Kickboxing. I’ve also served as the Spanish department head, I recently served as the ESL Coordinator. I also recently taught SPAN 101, 102, 105 & 106 at Brigham Young University. I earned an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Salt Lake Community College in 2014. In 2018, I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Spanish Teaching and an ESL endorsement from the University of Utah. I recently completed my Master’s degree from Brigham Young University and did my research thesis on “Student Perceptions on Motivation, Confidence, and Learning in Mixed-Level Language High-School Courses Containing Foreign Language Learners, Heritage Language Learners, and Native Speakers.” My background also includes serving as a Combat Field Medic in the Army from 2001 to 2008 and working briefly as an EMT with Gold Cross Ambulance. I’ve been happily married for 23 years to my wonderful husband, Curtis, and together we have three children: Caleb (22), Zach (18), and Katelynn (15). I’m passionate about fitness, particularly weight training, kickboxing, and cycling. I also enjoy singing as a first soprano with whatever choir I can. In my spare time, I love exploring the outdoors, visiting theme parks, and crafting. I’m excited to embark on this new journey at Maeser!
