Spirit Week Dress Guidelines
We’re excited for Spirit Week next week! We wanted to remind you of a couple rules when it comes to the dress-up days:
- Use your uniform as your “base layer”. With the exception of “Dress as a Teacher” day (Tuesday) and “Dress like your Musical” (Friday), you should wear your regular uniform and accessorize or embellish yourself for spirit points (e.g., wear a blue hat or gold cape, dye your hair blue for the day).
- If you choose to “Dress like a Teacher”, you really need to give it a good-faith effort. If you want to look like Mr. Martin, find some good boots and get that mustache going! If you want to dress like Mz, then just wear the regular uniform.
- On Friday, you need to wear your regular school uniform to Advisory. You can change into your Spirit Bowl outfit once Advisory is done!
- You can’t just wear regular clothes and try to pass that off as a spirit week costume. That’s lazy and lame!
- Have fun with this! Be creative and use your best judgment when dressing up!
Here are the Dress-up Days for Spirit Week:
Monday: Anything but a backpack
Tuesday: Dress like a Teacher
Wednesday: Crazy (hair, socks, jackets)
Thursday: Blue and Gold Friday
Friday: Dress as Your Musical & the Spirit Bowl (costumes allowed after Advisory)
For your reference, here is the pertinent section of the Uniform Policy (3207)
Special Dress-up and Costume Days
- Occasionally, Maeser will have special dress-up days or days on which costumes are permitted. These may include holidays such as Halloween and school events such as Spirit Week.
- Maeser encourages students to participate in special dress-up days in fun and creative ways, while also keeping in mind how their costume and/or dress might be understood or perceived by others. Costumes that alienate, threaten, or purposefully cause offense to fellow students are inappropriate in a school setting. Costumes of this type can create a hostile environment and do not align with Maeser’s values.
- Prohibited Costumes, Items, and Actions
- Masks that Conceal Identity: Masks that conceal a student’s identity are strictly prohibited. This rule ensures that the safety and security of all students and staff are maintained. Masks should allow for easy recognition and identification of the wearer.
- Excessive Gore: Costumes featuring excessive gore, blood, or graphic violence are not allowed. Our goal is to create an atmosphere of fun and positivity during special events, and these elements can be distressing to others.
- Weapons: The use or display of any form of weaponry as part of a costume is strictly forbidden. This includes, but is not limited to, fake guns, knives, swords, or any other items that may resemble weapons. The safety and well-being of all individuals in the school environment is our top priority.
- Promoting Drugs, Alcohol, or Illegal Activities: Any costume promoting the consumption or use of drugs or alcohol is prohibited. Any costume promoting illegal activities is prohibited.
- Racist or Culturally Offensive Costumes: Any costumes that promote hate speech, racism, or are culturally offensive are not permitted.
- No “regular student” costumes: students may not simply wear casual clothes (e.g., jeans and a hoodie) and pass it off as a costume.
- Modest in fit and appearance: All costumes should cover the same areas of the body that the regular dress school uniform would cover.
- It is not required for students to wear their school uniform under a costume unless otherwise directed by Maeser Administration.
Math Rocks! Meeting
The next meeting of Math Rocks! will be held on Thursday, April 16th. Math Rocks! is open to all students in any grade level and in any level of math. During this UVU sponsored event, we will explore some fun math puzzles and problems. If you have participated with us before, you do not need a new permission slip. As always, there will be pizza, prizes, treats, and (of course) some really fun math.

It’s important to keep your contact information up to date and opt-in to receive text messages from Maeser — in case of an emergency, this is how we notify parents! In addition, we use your contact information to notify you about important school events and school fees deadlines. Here’s how to make sure you’re getting all of our important announcements and information:
Opt In For School Text Messages
Our school utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts, student fees, and more. We will only use text messaging for urgent and important information. You can participate in this service by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number, 67587. You can also opt out of text messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”.
