Lunch Options This Week

On days that the school uses the preorder forms, please let your child know they will have 10 minutes to get their lunch and after 10 minutes we will start selling the extras to students who did not preorder. 

Tuesday: Gandolfo’s Sandwich – $6

Wednesday: Pizza – $2/slice (max 2 slices per student)

No pre-order is required for pizza. 

Thursday Yummy’s Korean Barbecue – $6

Microwaves are available in the lunchroom for students who bring lunch from home. Please note: we do NOT have refrigerator facilities for student use.

TODAY: ACT Prep Class Begins

ACT Prep Sessions will be starting today at 12:30 p.m. Students who would like to participate should read the following and then sign up through this link using their Maeser student email accountMaeser ACT Prep 2025-26 Sign-up.

  • Attendance is required for all days. Only sign up if you are committed to attending each session.
  • Space is limited to 30 students. Priority will be given to Juniors who did not participate in ACT prep last year.
  • Cost is $50, but if you are taking it for the first time it is FREE. Payment must be made to the front desk before January 30th, or you will be dropped from the session.
  • Students will have breaks throughout their sessions.
  • Regular dress uniform is required.
  • Lunch is not provided – please bring your own.

TONIGHT: NHS Induction Ceremony

For the newest members of the National Honor Society, we will be having our Induction Ceremony on Friday, January 30th, at 6 pm in the Library. New members and parents, please check your email for more details and to RSVP for the ceremony if you have not already.

TOMORROW: Deadline for 2026-27 Lottery Application

If you have a child who will be a NEW student at Maeser next school year (2026-27), you must submit a lottery application for them by Saturday, January 31. You can find the application under maeserprep.org/Admissions.

Proposed New Fee: Public Comment Period Open Through March 10, 2026

A new $50 Team Manager fee has been proposed as an addition to the 2025-26 Fee Schedule & Spend Plan. It will cover transportation to games ($25) and team gear ($25). If you would like to share any feedback with the board before their final approval of the Team Manager fee at their March board meeting, you may:

Brighton Ski/Snowboard Program

Come to Brighton Ski/Snowboard for family and friends of Maeser. It is $235 for 5 Friday nights, Feb 20 – Mar 20, and includes a 2 hour group lesson and the night lift pass for those Fridays. After the lesson you may ski/board for the rest of the night.

If you don’t have a season pass to Brighton, be sure to select the “lift access upgrade”. If you have a season pass to Brighton, don’t select the “lift access upgrade”, lessons only are $185. Plan on being there at 4 pm because the classes leave at 4:15 sharp. This price doesn’t include rentals.

Maeser students, family members, and faculty/staff and their families of all ages 8 and older are welcome. Signups will close two weeks before the first class or whenever the slots are full, whichever comes first. Maeser is not sponsoring this.

Transportation to Brighton is not included but the price does include the parking pass for the nights of the program. This is a service provided by Brighton for the Maeser community. If you have questions, email Laralee Ireland, [email protected]

Sports Announcements

Sports Physicals

All students, middle school and high school, who will be playing sports during the 2025-2026 school year need a physical in order to play. Physicals completed on or after March 10, 2025 will be good until July 15, 2026. Here is the link to the UHSAA form which Maeser uses for ALL athletes: UHSAA Physical Form.

3rd Term Sports Academic Eligibility

9th-12th Graders 
Eligibility for activities/sports during the 3rd term of the 2025-2026 school year for 9th-12th graders will be based on 2nd term grades. Students must have earned a GPA of 2.7 with no Fs/NGs. In addition, 10th-12th graders must be on track for graduation. 

7th-8th Graders 
Eligibility for activities/sports during the 3rd term of the 2025-2026 school year for 7th and 8th graders will be based on 2nd term grades. Students must earn a GPA of 2.7 with no Fs/NGs.

Counseling Announcements

Junior CCR Sign-Ups

Junior College and Career Readiness meetings (CCRs) will run through the end of February 2026. Parents are invited to attend with their Juniors. Freshman CCR Sign-Ups

9th grade CCRs begin next week and run through the first week of April. These meetings are held annually to keep you on track with your goals and graduation requirements. Availability is limited, so please check with your student before scheduling to avoid double booking.

Counseling Donations Needed

The School Counseling Team needs donations of large bags of individually wrapped candy. Donations can count toward volunteer hours! Candy Details:

  • Type: An assortment, including chocolate, hard candies (like Jolly Ranchers), Tootsie Pops or Rolls, and other assorted bags. Please include some non-chocolate options as well.
  • Quantity: 4–5 bags per month.

Can We Reach You In Case Of Emergency?

It’s important to keep your contact information up to date and opt-in to receive text messages from Maeser — in case of an emergency, this is how we notify parents! In addition, we use your contact information to notify you about important school events and school fees deadlines. Here’s how to make sure you’re getting all of our important announcements and information:

Opt In For School Text Messages

Our school utilizes the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages to your mobile phone with important information about events, school closings, safety alerts, student fees, and more. We will only use text messaging for urgent and important information. 

You can participate in this service by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our school’s short code number: 67587.

You can also opt out of text messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”.

If any of your contact information has changed – email address, mailing address, phone number – please let us know asap so we can be sure you’re getting school and teacher communications. Thank you for helping us keep in contact with your family!
