Mission
Karl G Maeser Preparatory Academy school orchestra is committed to excellence in musical performance, classical education, and meaningful student engagement. Through the study of great works from the classical tradition, students develop strong technical skills, musical understanding, and an appreciation for the arts. We emphasize Socratic learning by encouraging thoughtful discussion, critical listening, and reflection, helping students connect music to history, culture, and their own experiences. In our orchestra, every student is an active participant in the learning process, working collaboratively to grow as musicians, thinkers, and leaders.
About
Our school orchestra is a thriving community of over 90 student musicians, and we’re still growing! Led by director Katie Wirig, our program combines strong musical training with creativity, teamwork, and a genuine love for music. Students perform a wide range of repertoire, from classical works to fun, modern pieces even using electric instruments to bring exciting energy to our concerts. Our orchestra has proudly toured and performed in Disneyland and has earned Superior ratings at Solo & Ensemble Festival, reflecting our commitment to excellence. Above all, we are passionate about making music, supporting one another, and sharing our love of music with our school and community.

Enjoy an evening of beautiful classical favorites featuring student soloists at the UVU Regaen Theater.
March 18- Solo & Ensemble Festival
Our musicians will perform at Waterford School, demonstrating their skills in small ensembles and solo performances.
May 11- Senior Celebration Concert
Join us at Orem High School as we celebrate our graduating seniors with music from our favorite genres and special performances to honor their achievements.
