ATTENTION: Fee Policy Change for Sports & Activities

Starting with the 2018-19 school year, all sports and activity fees will be due BEFORE your student participates. We will no longer use the deposit/balance model we used last year for sports–everything will be due up front. This will most immediately affect those who plan to participate in fall sports (including those that start practicing in the summer) and the high school and middle school Shakespeare competitions.

Please plan accordingly so you have funds available to pay for these activities up front. (What a great time for students to get summer jobs!)

Socratic Reading List for 2018-19

Many students have requested to have their own personal copies of the books for Socratic to write in and keep to build their personal classical library. Class sets are still available and will be provided for students, but if your student would like to write in their own copies and begin to acquire their own classical library, you are welcome to purchase those copies for your student. For a list of all of the 2018-19 Socratic books with ISBN numbers for the editions being used in class, please click here: Socratic Reading List 2018-19.

Music Department Summer Party

Music students, come celebrate a great year and say goodbye to the Captain, who is leaving Maeser, at the Webb home (242 International Way, Alpine) on Thursday, June 21 at 6:00 p.m. We’ll roast hot dogs and play yard games. Bring a side dish, drink, or dessert item; Captain Vincent will provide meat and buns. Please come! She wants to see YOU. Music alumni are welcome for this last hurrah. RSVP to vincentstudios@gmail.com.

Host Families Needed for Foreign Exchange Students in 2018-19

NACEL is currently accepting applications for volunteer families who are interested in hosting an exchange student in their home for the upcoming school year. Foreign exchange students make a great contribution to our school, our community, and to your family. Students are carefully selected and screened, and they come with their own health insurance and spending money; all that is required from you is a bed, board and welcome. If your family is interested in hosting an exchange student next year, please contact Wendy Waldes for more information: wendywaldes@gmail.com or 801-709-3583.

High School Fall Sports Eligibility

Academic eligibility for high school students wanting to play a fall sport will be based on grades from the 4th term of 2017-18. This includes students who are transferring to Maeser Prep. The minimum requirement is a 2.0 with no Fs/NGs.

Medical Physicals

All students (7th-12th grades) are required to have a physical completed before they can play a sport. Physicals are good for one year. If a student-athlete does not have one he/she will not be able to play. Please bring a copy of this form to your student’s physical exam for their doctor to fill out: UHSAA Pre-Participation Physical Form.

Online Registration for Fall High School Sports

High school students who participate in girls volleyball, girls soccer, girls tennis, boys golf, and cross-country must complete the online registration through Register My Athlete. However, please DO NOT start this until July 9th.The school is updating this site for Maeser Prep and it will not be ready until that time. If you have questions please contact Jared Norris at jared.norris@maeserprep.org.

Sports Information for NEW High School Students

If you are new to Maeser Prep and are will be in 10th-12th grade, OR will be in 9th grade but have tried out for a sport at another Utah high school, AND you want to play high school sports, please contact Jared Norris at jared.norris@maeserprep.org to discuss eligibility requirements. The UHSAA (Utah High School Activities Association) implemented new eligibility requirements last year that could possibly impact your participation at the varsity level.

Middle School Sports

Girls volleyball, boys soccer, and cross country are offered at Maeser Prep during the fall for 7th and 8th graders. If you are on the team, your elective will be the 4th period Middle School Sports class as this will be when your practices are held. Tryouts for girls volleyball and boys soccer will be held sometime during the week of August 13th (specific dates have not been set yet). There are no tryouts for cross country — please contact Jessica Kemper at jessica.kemper@maeserprep.org if you have questions about cross country.
