Model United Nations

Your student can be an ambassador for a day on Friday, 13 October 2017! Students will meet for the next five weeks on Wednesdays during lunch in Mrs. Smith’s room (#212). They will learn diplomacy, public speaking, parliamentary procedure, research, and resolution writing. Besides the General Assembly (GA, GA2, GA3) we need delegates for these committees: Human Rights Council (HRC), Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), World Health Organization (WHO), Security Council (SC), and a special committee: Organization of American States (OAS-Spanish Only). Parent volunteers are needed on Friday, 13 October 2017 at BYU. Over 300 students from the Wasatch Front participate in this Model UN. $20.00 fee. Questions? Contact Mrs. Smith: allison.smith@maeserprep.org.

Parent Volunteer Opportunity: Model U.N.
Observe a model of the largest Club for Countries in the world. Model United Nations. Parents needed to chaperone Friday, 13 October, 2017 at BYU for Model United Nations. Watch nations in collaboration. Contact Allison Smith at allison.smith@maeserprep.org.

Utah Opera/Utah Symphony Performances

Music students and enthusiasts: Utah Opera/Utah Symphony season is here, and we are purchasing tickets next week! Utah Opera has amazingly made the opera tickets FREE to students this year, so we can make that available to you for $20 (paying only for the bus) for FOUR opera performances! Symphony package is $40 for the year (which includes four concerts and the bus ride each time — but NOTE: NO opera is included this year with this package). Adult chaperones will pay $40 for the opera and $100 for the symphony, since as adults they are not offered the same price as the students. (These prices also include the price of the bus.) We won’t know how many chaperones can go with us until we have a student count, so send notice of your interest to Mrs. Vincent. Deadline to pay at the front office is this Wednesday, September 13. Students may pick up the information letter and form from Mrs. Vincent, or email Mrs. Vincent at janice.vincent@maeserprep.org.

Debate

Debate got off to a great start this week, and we’re so pleased with so much middle school involvement. But it’s not too late to join! Email jonathan.harmon@maeserprep.org for more information.

See the Northern Lights in Iceland! Viking Winterim

There’s still time to join the Viking Winterim! The deadline to sign up is Thursday, September 21. For details, contact Ms. Gerber: natalie.gerber@maeserprep.org.

Sports

Ultimate Frisbee

There’s still time to sign up for co-ed ultimate frisbee for both high school and middle school teams. Registration is $75, practices are every Tuesday and Thursday at Bonneville Park in Orem at 6:00am.

Tell Me About: Student Fees

Welcome to Student Fees 101!

First semester student fees (enrollment fees, class & lab fees, student council, sports, etc) have been assessed and are due on September 28. Please check your student’s account balance in PowerSchool, even if you paid recently (some fees were assessed in the last day or two). We will also mail reminder statements for accounts with outstanding balances around September 14 or 15.

You may pay online (preferred) or in the office during office hours, any time before or on September 28. After that date, a late fee of $25 will be applied to your student’s account.

To pay fees online:
You can pay your students’ fees online at our RevTrak payment site. You will need your PowerSchool parent account login information to access student fees. You can also add a yearbook to your cart on the RevTrak site (under “Browse>Maeser Prep Yearbook”).

Purchase your student’s yearbook before the September 28th fee payment deadline and receive a FREE video yearbook and year-end supplement insert for each yearbook purchased!

If you need to arrange a payment plan, please email finance@maeserprep.org before September 28.

Winterim class fees will be assessed in October, following Winterim registration. Winterim fees will be due on November 15. Second semester fees will be assessed the week of February 5.

Parents/guardians are responsible for their student’s fees. Unpaid accounts will be turned over for collection and parents/guardians will be responsible for any and all collection and legal fees.

All fees must be paid in full by the end of the school year for your student to pick up their yearbook and/or have transcripts submitted to colleges.
